Teen’s head shave boosts charity

A teenage trainee hairdresser has helped to support a breast cancer charity by having all her hair shaved off by her sister-in-law.

Belinda Peters (18) waved goodbye to her locks yesterday (Friday) as sister-in-law Stephanie Gliddon (22), the manager of Super Cuts salon in Rivergate, got to work with her scissors.

The idea came about after Mrs Gliddon decided to fund raise as part of breast cancer awareness month which starts in October and so far the pair, both from Whittlesey, have raised £250.

Belinda, a trainee hairdresser, said: “Stephanie posted a message on Facebook saying she wanted to help a breast cancer charity and asked if anyone could suggest fund raising ideas.

“Someone posted back that she should do a head shave. I texted her saying I would be willing to do it and it just escalated from there.

“With Stephanie being a fully qualified hair dresser I knew that I was in good hands.

“It certainly feels a lot colder today but I’m glad that I’ve played my part in helping such a worthy cause.

“My friends have all been impressed with my new look.”
