Police remain at scene of double stabbing in Peterborough

Thursday, 9.50am: Police remain at the scene of a double stabbing in Peterborough.

Searches and further tests are being carried out at a property in Gilpin Street.

Next of kin of the 20-year-old man who died following the incident have now been traced.

A post mortem examination will take place later today at Peterborough City Hospital by Home Office Pathologist Dr Ben Swift.

Formal identification is expected to take place following the post mortem.

The 22-year-old man seriously injured following the incident remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the incident yesterday morning, confirming they are investigating the possibility another person was involved.

Det Chief Insp Tim Redfearn from the Major Crime Unit said: “I would like to hear from anyone who was in the Gilpin Street area yesterday morning who has any information about this incident.

“Any information, no matter how small, could prove vital.”

Anyone with information should contact the Major Crime Unit on 01480 422791 or 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
