Confidence in the quality of services provided by Peterborough City Council has grown, according to the results of a new survey.
Members of the Peterborough’s Citizens’ Panel, a representative sample of the city’s population, took part in the study conducted by the Greater Peterborough Partnership in March.
Some 63.8 per cent of members agreed that the council provides good quality services - a rise from 56.9 per cent from a survey carried out in 2009.
Other areas of improvement from 2009 included: the proportion of members who agreed Peterborough was a good place to live, work and play (an increase by 13.6 per cent to 58.9 per cent), the proportion who felt the city council provided good value for money (up 8.2 per cent to 41 per cent) and the proportion who felt safe in the city centre during the day (a 2.1 per cent rise to 78.3 per cent).
The survey aims to give people the opportunity to influence and shape local services and members gave reducing crime and tacking anti-social behaviour as the most important programme with the city council’s plans.
Cllr Marco Cereste, leader of Peterborough City Council, said: “It is really important that we learn as a council and as a city as a whole what people think to the services we provide and where they feel we should be investing our time and resources.
“The feedback we have received will now be used to identify local priorities, to assess service needs and determine the appropriateness of service developments and policy changes.”
Peterborough City Council’s Cabinet members will be considering the report at their meeting on Monday, September 24.
