Low Vision Day in Peterborough

Peterborough residents suffering from vision problems are invited to attend an information day about where they can receive help in the city on Wednesday, 4 April.

Peterborough Low Vision Day will be held at The Voyager Academy, in Mountsteven Avenue, Walton, Peterborough.

Representatives from charities and services will be on hand between 10.30am and 3.30pm to show how people who are blind or partially-sighted can remain independent through clubs and a whole range of products with presentations covering accessible phones, eBooks, easy-talking computer software, GPS and navigation.

Peter Smith, a forum member from Guide Dogs who will be at the event, said: “There are approximately 2,700 registered blind or partially sighted people in Cambridgeshire and they can feel extremely isolated because they don’t know what support is available.

“We’re pulling this day together in order to bridge the gap of not knowing where to go for what, and to link people up with new friends or groups they can join.”

There will be a free mini-bus service operating from outside the Queensgate Bus Station out to the academy.
