Recently elected councillor Lisa Forbes has been selected to represent Labour in Peterborough at the next General Election.
Cllr Forbes, an Orton Longueville councillor on Peterborough City Council, was selected today (Saturday) at a vote of local Labour members.
After her selection she said: “It’s an honour to be selected by local members to be Labour’s General Election candidate for Peterborough.
“People in Peterborough are worried about their children’s futures with long term youth unemployment up since last year.
“They’ve worried about feeling safe on the streets with Cambridgeshire Police set to lose officers, as a result of Tory-led Government cuts that go too far, too fast.”
The current MP for Peterborough is Stewart Jackson (Conservative) who first won his seat in 2005 and again in 2010.
