Fire investigation underway after van torched in Wimblington

News from the Peterborough Telegraph - peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news

News from the Peterborough Telegraph - peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news

Saturday, 10am: Arsonists are believed to be behind a van fire involving a propane gas cylinder in Wimblington this morning.

Firefighters from March and Chatteris were called to the blaze outside a property in Hassock Way shortly before 5.40am.

Callers reported that a propane gas cylinder had been set beside the van and was involved in the fire.

Crew members used cutting equipment to access the rear of the van in order to extinguish the fire, which was under control by 6.50am.

A spokesman for the fire service said an investigation into the blaze would be carried out at first light, but it was believed the fire had been started deliberately.

No one was injured in the fire
