Fairy world record bid for charity

Carole Hughes is calling for people to take part in a fairy world record attempt for Anna's Hope.

Carole Hughes is calling for people to take part in a fairy world record attempt for Anna's Hope.

A charity is making a bid to break the world record for the number of fairies in one place at an event in the grounds at Burghley House, near Stamford.

Anna’s Hope, which provides support to families with children battling brain tumours, is inviting people of any age to dress up and bring a picnic from noon on Sunday, August 19.

The official count for the world record attempt will be at 2pm.

The current record stands at 337 and to qualify as a fairy people need to wear fairy wings, a tutu or dress and have a wand.

As an added incentive anyone dressed as a fairy on the day will get half-price admission into the Garden of Surprises.

The event is free but any money raised will go to the charity which was set up in memory of Anna Olivia Hughes, who died at the age of three from a brain tumour.

Anna’s mother, Carole Hughes said: “It would be brilliant if families and friends enter into the fairy spirit, break the world record and picnic together in the beautiful grounds of Burghley Park.

“It will also be a very special as the event will also coincide with what would have been Anna’s 10th birthday.”

All fairies must register prior to the event.
