Sunday, 4.15pm: A body, believed to be that of a missing Peterborough man, has been discovered in woods in the city this afternoon.
The body, though to be Peter Field (69), was found by a volunteer search team in a wooded area close to Mallory Road in Boongate, Peterborough, at 12.25pm.
Mr Field, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, had not been seen since leaving his home in Reeves Way in Eastfield at 10.30pm on Wednesday, 3 October.
A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Police said that the body had been recovered and was believed to be Mr Field.
No formal identification has taken place and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the find.
Mr Field’s family have been informed and a file has been passed to the city’s coroner.
