Newborough: Councillor set to become a governor

A PETERBOROUGH City Councillor is set to become a new governor at Newborough Primary School.

A PETERBOROUGH City Councillor is set to become a new governor at Newborough Primary School.Cllr David Harrington has been nominated for the position by the school's chairman of governors Brian Cook after it was left vacant by Angie Downes' resignation on November 10.

He sent his children to the school in the 1980s and his granddaughter, Grace, is currently a pupil.

Cllr Harrington said: "I think that it is a fantastic school which is essential to the village.

"It has got a good reputation and I was honoured to be chosen as somebody who could help out.

"After my children left, I have maintained a good relationship with the people from the school as my role as councillor and I am always impressed with its role."

If anybody has any objections to Cllr Harrington joining the board of governors they have until tomorrow to raise the issue to Peterborough City Council by calling 01733 747474. If there are no objections he will assume the role on January 23.
