Man threatens ET snapper as bailiffs move travellers

Waiting for Video...

POLICE are investigating an incident in which threats were made as bailiffs arrived to move a convoy of travellers.

An ET photographer was allegedly threatened by a man in his mid-20s to early 30s near the encampment in Belvoir Way, Welland, at 10am yesterday.

Bailiffs were requested to attend the site by Peterborough City Council as a notice for the travellers to leave expired yesterday.

But when the photographer arrived, he was threatened by a man, who at one point was caught on camera hanging onto his car wing mirror. Police sent out a large response to try to find the perpetrator.

A police spokesman said: “Officers were quickly on the scene and a thorough search was carried out in the area and of the nearby caravans, however none of the offenders could be located.”

City service provider Enterprise said the travellers left the site afterwards but when the ET went back in the afternoon there were still some caravans there.
