HUNDREDS of friends of a missing Peterborough teenager are joining the search today to try to find him.

Theo Kawala (16), from Peterborough, has not been seen since Friday night prompting a massive hunt by friends, family and police.

Debra Trickey, (16), from Walton, used to travel to Jack Hunt School with Theo and is gathering his friends together to help the police search.

She has been handing out flyers and had his face printed on T-shirts to try to jog people’s memories in case they have seen him.

Police have extended their river-side search to the Dog-in-a-Doublet pub near Whittlesey and have also been tracing Theo’s last known movements around Bridge Street.

About 250 friends and family are expected to meet at Bridge Street at noon today to try to retrace Theo’s steps.

Debra, who is now a student at Peterborough Regional College, said: “He made my mornings fun and I enjoyed going to school because of him. He is a great friend to a lot of people. All we want is to have him home safely.

“Hopefully with that many people we will be able to find something, anything, that will give a clue to where he is or what has happened.”

Theo’s family – his father, mother and two sisters – have also issued a statement through the police speaking of their fear and devastation at his disappearance but thanking all those who have helped them so far in the search.

They said: “We are devastated, anxious and very concerned about Theo’s disappearance and we just want to see him back home.

“If anybody has any information on Theo’s whereabouts after midnight on Friday, please contact police.

“Theo, you are a lovable, funny, smart, lovely boy and we are desperate to see you back home. If you see this message, whatever happened on Friday night, please contact us.

“We would also ask anyone who might be with Theo to encourage him to contact us or the police.”

Cambridgeshire Search and Rescue has been searching the river along the route Theo may have taken home. He was last spotted at about midnight on CCTV outside the old Woolworths building in Bridge Street following a night out with friends.

Theo is described as white, slim, 6ft 1in tall with dark brown short hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a black shiny jacket, red and white check shirt and black trainers.

Anyone with information should call police on 0345 456 456 4.

To join Theo’s friends in the search today meet them outside the old Woolworths building between 11.30am and noon.
