A HAMPTON amateur dramatics group has been praised by a national society following its latest production.Hampton Amateur Theatre Society (HATS) performed its latest show last week, and members once again earned rave reviews and packed houses for their performances.

Their run of Am Dram Thank You Ma'am, at Peterborough High School, took place between Thursday and Saturday.

The show focused on the world of amateur dramatics, and marked the fifth anniversary of the group's formation.

The play was also the sixth the group has performed, and cast and crew will now take a short break before starting preparations for their next project.

Following the run, Michael Williamson, from The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA), said he was very impressed by the production.

He said: "Since its foundation five years ago, HATS must be one of the most improved societies in the district.

"The strong team spirit exhibited by the group, combined with a keen sense of fun and originality, make its productions both enjoyable and memorable.

"The entire evening was a great credit to director James Cuthbert and the whole cast and production team, and I look forward to the company's next dramatic offering."

Mr Williamson also praised a number of the cast's performances during the two-act show, as well as the backstage efforts of the group's technical crew.

Giselle Rawlings, who played the maid in the second act of the show, and was one of the actors to receive praise, said the group were delighted with how the show went.

She said: "The run was a big success, and we were packed out for every show. The audience were full of praise and we got a great review from NODA.

"We are planning on having a short break now before reconvening in a few weeks to decide what our next production will be."
