Hamptons: Group gears up for fifth anniversary show

A HAMPTON drama group are hoping to celebrate their fifth anniversary with a bang next week as they start their latest production.

A HAMPTON drama group are hoping to celebrate their fifth anniversary with a bang next week as they start their latest production.Hampton Amateur Theatre Society (HATS) will perform the latest comedy performance, Am Dram Thank You Ma'am, at Peterborough High School in Thorpe Road, Peterborough next week.

Since the group was formed in 2005, they have gone from strength to strength, and this will be their seventh performance.

In the past, they have sold out a number of performances and in 2008 won the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) East 2008 Hunstanton Drama Festival award for best supporting actor, as well as receiving nominations for best actress.

Today Giselle Rawlings, who will appear in the production, said the group were delighted to have developed in the way they had.

She said: "It's HATS' fifth anniversary this year and we're delighted that we're still going strong and have entertained the community this long and with such fine reviews.

"It's a testimony to everyone, past and present, who has ever been involved with the group and I'd like to thank everyone who has supported us this far.

"We're sure the audience will be as entertained during this production as they have been with all our others."

During the show, the group will also be collecting money for a charity project which Kevin Hughes, chairman of the group and the winner of the best supporting actor award, will be taking part in later this year.

Mr Hughes will be going to Namibia with Raleigh International to help build a playground in a rural school in the African country in May.

Tickets for the show, which runs from February 11 to February 13 are available from the group's website, www.hamptonscomedytheatre.co.uk.

Tickets cost 6 for adults or 5 concessions.
