Danny Simpson clipped a third Toon goal seven minutes after the break before Posh restored plenty of pride with a spirited showing.

They went close on several occasions before skipper Dean Keates turned in a consolation goal 11 minutes from time.

Keates was one of five changes made by manager Darren Ferguson for this fixture.
