Family devastated by death of baby boy
A FAMILY has spoken of their devastation after their twin baby died just weeks before Christmas.
Five-week-old baby Dylan Killick died from bronchial pneumonia at Peterborough City Hospital on December 6, despite the frantic efforts of his parents and doctors to save him.
His father and mother, Chris Isaac (26) and Lizzie Killick (23) faced the nightmare every parent dreads after finding Dylan lying motionless and not breathing in his cot.
Lizzie had been checking on Dylan’s twin Rosey, who had been crying, at about 10.30pm when she noticed something was wrong.
Grandmother Iris Killick (60), who lives with them in Belsay Drive, Park Farm, Stanground, Peterborough spoke of their ordeal.
She said: “The last few days have been a nightmare for us. Dylan was a beautiful baby.
“He was absolutely adorable and we were so thrilled when he and his twin sister Rosey were born.
“We were looking forward to spending Christmas together but now we are devastated.”
Recalling the night Dylan died, she added: “Rosey was screaming loudly so his mum went into their room and gave her a dummy.
“She found Dylan just lying in bed and not moving. His little mouth was open ajar and he wasn’t breathing. Chris and Lizzie gave him mouth-to-mouth but he didn’t improve. He was still warm but wasn’t breathing.
“The paramedics turned up and put him straight in the ambulance to take him to hospital.
“The doctors there tried to resuscitate him for over half an hour and we were all praying for him.
“Lizzie kept saying he was a fighter who would pull through, those minutes were agony. The doctors did all they could but in the end it was no good.
“At first we asked why they were stopping but they said there was nothing they could do. It was very emotional and there were plenty of tears shed.”
His funeral will be held at St John The Baptist Church, in Church Street, Stanground, at 1pm on December 28.
Their friends and relatives have been busy raising funds with cake sales, raffles and a sponsored leg-waxing event so that the funeral, which will include a horse and carriage, can take place.
A pub quiz night is also planned but the family need to raise at least £1,000 so the funeral can happen.
Mrs Killick added: “We’re fortunate to have so many kind-hearted friends and I would like to thank them for their help. We realise that people are hard up at the moment but it would be great if people could support us.”
