Chippy trio batter it out in national competition

THREE local fish and chip shops will batter it out in a contest to find the best chippy in the land.

Fryz, in the Bretton Centre, Bretton, Peterborough and Market Deeping’s The Boundary, in High Street, and Linfords, in Market Place, are through to the regional finals of the National Fish and Chip Awards 2012.

They are competing in the Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop Of The Year category and will be inspected by a judge during an unannouced visit.

The judge will inspect product quality, customer service, food preparation procedures, hygiene, innovation, staff training and development, promotional activity and approaches to sustainable sourcing.

The winner will go on to the grand national final to compete against nine other regional champions with the award ceremony taking place in London in January 2012.

It is organised by Seafish, the authority on seafood, which claims that past winners have seen a sales increase of up to 100 per cent for the winning shop.
