Waiting for Video...

A TEENAGE boy has been injured in what is thought to have been a fight near a house in Hempsted that was left blood-splattered following the alleged assault in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

Police say they were called out to reports of a fight at an address in Cook Avenue, in Hempsted, Peterborough, at about 1.35am.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to Peterborough City Hospital for treatment, while two other people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Yesterday, police were carrying out door-to-door inquiries to find out what had happened.

Officers also arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of assault and he remained in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

Neighbours spoke of their horror following the incident. A 33-year-old local resident, who asked not to be named, said: “It shocks me, definitely, because it’s my neighbours.”

He added: “It’s a quiet area. I have been here two years and normally nothing like this happens.”

Father-of-two Sarhang Qadar (40), of Cook Avenue, said: “I’m unhappy that something like this has happened.”

A police spokesman said they were treating it as “an isolated incident”.

He said: “Investigations are ongoing. The injuries are not believed to be serious.”
