The six-month programmes includes formal training with on-the-job experience and mentoring.

Sue Platt, senior manager for IT applications management, said: "We are continuing to invest in our people and technology to support the growing demands of the business.

"The academy is a unique opportunity for people with a passion for a career in IT who are either just starting out or are looking for a completely new career path. BGL Group offers huge potential for people to get the right training to progress up the career ladder.

"We are confident that we have the right tools to turn our trainees into highly skilled developers."
