The cause of a large fire at a factory in Wisbech was accidental, the fire service has ruled.

One crew from Wisbech, two crews from March and a crew from Long Sutton, in Lincolnshire, were called to a fire at Lamb Weston Meijer, in Weasenham Lane, Wisbech, on Saturday (November 9) at 11.40am.

A spokeswoman for the service said: “Firefighters arrived to find a well developed fire in the main factory. The area measured approximately 130m by 70m. Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters extinguished the fire using a hose reel and a jet and checked the area using a thermal imaging camera.”

Crews had returned to their stations by 3.50pm.

The cause of the fire was accidental, the spokeswoman added.
