£30,000 raised by pizza lovers
PIZZA lovers in Peterborough have helped to raise more than £30,000 for charity.
During 2010, Papa John’s, which has a takeaway in Lincoln Road, donated 50p for every sale of its limited edition Spicy Meatball Pizza to the Everyman Campaign, which funds research to increase awareness about male cancers.
They raised a total of £30,917.50 for the charity.
John Schnatter, Papa John’s founder, chairman and co-chief executive, said: “We are extremely proud to have raised such a huge amount for The Everyman Campaign, which is a fantastic cause worth supporting.
“We all agreed that the best way to support Everyman would be to do what we do best – create a fantastic tasting pizza.”
The Everyman Campaign is dedicated to stamping out male cancer by making everyone recognise the tell-tale signs and understand the importance of treating them.
Tatjana Trposka, from the Everyman Campaign, said: “We’re delighted that Papa John’s has raised such a huge amount for our charity and this will make a big difference to us.
“It’s great that pizza lovers enjoyed the pizza and have done their bit to raise funds for our vital research into male cancers.”
