Teach pooches to go in the garden
What are they thinking (if at all...)?
I can actually believe that some local dog owners in Hampton are stumbling about in a daze as they walk their dogs, because they allow them to foul the pavement left, right and centre.
And they are obviously in such a stupor that, not only do they forget to take an ordinary plastic bag with them to clear up their pooch’s messes, but they absentmindedly walk them down the same path that parents and little kids have to take to Hargate Primary School – yep, right the way down Hargate Way, and even right outside the school itself.
Now, either they are completely incapable of handling pets, they reckon they own the place, or they are doing it deliberately, which is not only cruel and immoral, but also illegal.
So, why don’t they teach their pooches to ‘go’ on land that is theirs – their own back gardens.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 09:36 AMItâs the same mentality as throwing your rubbish and fag ends out of your car window instead of dealing with your own rubbish. The areas are for human exercise. People having a dog with them while they exercise is OK, providing itâs not a powerful breed and itâs on a lead. People have abused being allowed to take their animals on our park land to the point where action should have been taken years ago. Itâs government policy for people to be told to use their own garden as the principle place for the dog to mess and to exercise. The council does have a duty to consider whether pets can get exercise under the Animal Welfare Act, but given we live in houses here it has no requirement to provide any areas for exercise. Despite how groups with vested interests try and interpret this act this does not mean it has to allow dogs off lead. Itâs an odd law as people in flats shouldnât have dogs, especially since high rise areas are likely to have many on benefits with working people funding their pets. The council also has a more important legal duty to keep areas clear of dog mess. The way the council doesnât follow government laws and policy make me think either the council is run by doggy people, or theyâre too scared of the bad P.R. theyâll get. Dealing with selfish anti-social people is one of the main reasons we have councils.
