Letters: Praise for Peterborough health care and staff

THERE has been a lot of press recently about the way that elderly people are treated in hospitals, but my family would all like to say thank you and well done to all the dedicated staff on Ward A9 at Peterborough City Hospital.

Our mother was admitted to this ward on December 24 and stayed for almost three weeks.

Although she was extremely poorly and sadly passed away three days after leaving hospital, she would tell us at every visit that the nurses were really lovely and sat beside her bed to feed and talk to her.

Maybe to the nurses this is just part of their job, but to a poorly, frail and frightened old lady, this gentle care gave her great comfort.

Elderly people are not always the easiest people to deal with, as we witnessed on a couple of occasions.

Even when patients are verbally abusive and absolutely rude to them, these nurses carried on being kind and professional.

Thank you once again to all the staff on Ward A9.

Excellent

care when

needed

I would like to thank all the medical staff in Peterborough for the excellent assistance they gave me when my husband needed help.

From the nurses to the ambulance crew and hospital staff, they were kind, helpful and professional.

Yes, from start to finish the time it all took was lengthy, but the pressure they are all under is enormous.

However, we have nothing but praise and admiration for their wonderful commitment, and my family and I would like to thank them for all they did to help us when we needed it.

Everyone

could not

do enough

I was in hospital over Christmas 2010 and also November 2009.

I found everybody, from nurses to the cleaners/tea ladies, couldn’t do enough for me or my husband when he visited.

The parking is still a bit up in the air, as you can’t go into the area outside.

We had to park in the main car park near the women/children’s wards.

The food was good for choice.
