Letter: Share a glimpse of the life of a prophet

“Say, in the bounty of Allah and in His mercy: therein let them rejoice. It is better than what they accumulate”. Quran 10:58

On Sunday, we the Muslims of Peterborough, just like Muslims around the globe, are assembled to rejoice the birth of Allah’s Last and Final Messenger, Muhammad (Allah’s peace and blessings upon him).

“And We have not sent you, (O Muhammad), except as a mercy to the worlds”. Quran 21:107

The highest of God’s bounties and mercy, with certainty is the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). God perfected religion, completed His bounty and is pleased with Islam as the faith and a way of life for those who are Muslims. This completion and perfection was made through Muhammad (pbuh), who was sent as a Prophet of Mercy.

In happiness we Muslims mark this auspicious day by manifesting our love, reverence and veneration in honour of our Prophet, Muhammad (pbuh).

Muhammad (pbuh) was a Universal Messenger and Prophet of Allah. His teachings instruct us to worship One God Allah, offer the daily five prayers, to give charity, fast the month of Ramadan, undertake a journey to Makah once in a life-time, believe in life after death, be kind to parents, be excellent to our wives, respect the elders and show kindness to the young, fulfil the rights of neighbours, earn and eat of the lawful only, visit the sick, take care of widows and orphans, safe-guard trusts, speak the truth, fulfil promises. His teachings also forbid the wrong, such as; killing, racism, radical patriotism, dishonouring others, adultery, lying, deceit, consuming someone’s property, cutting down of any unnecessary tree, wasting water and ill treatment of animals.

The life of Muhammad (pbuh) is a marvel that has been told in narratives, biographies and prose of old and new, inevitably directing one to fall in love with Muhammad as a consequence.

We Muslims, men, women and children of our great and diverse City of Peterborough share with you a glimpse of the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and thank everyone for attending, supporting, and accommodating our jubilation to mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

As-salaam Alaikum

Peace Be On You All
