Letter: Injuries a strong message to council over crossing patrol proposals

It was only last week when the Evening Telegraph ran a news item regarding the council’s cut backs on school crossing patrols.

Although, to date, it is not clear if patrols were in attendance, but we are now informed of two children injured, unfortunately one seriously, in road traffic accidents.

Surely this must send a strong message to the councillors that it is imperative that crossing patrols are absolutely essential, irrespective.

Mr Stewart Jackson MP has stated in his piece, “I supported the city council in their discussions with ministers on crucial areas such as safeguarding children”.

An opportunity for Mr Jackson to make himself heard. The council has also stated that they will spend our money on the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, and the Olympic torch, get the priorities right, our children are more important.
