Talking about regeneration

THE talking is over and now it is time to deliver the regeneration.

Bold words indeed from city council leader John Peach as plans for the demolition of the Corn Exchange building and the redevelopment of that part of the city centre.

He is right: Talk is cheap - but there has been so much of it the people of Peterborough could be excused for being sceptical.

The creation of a new public square should be the first visual sign of the city's long-awaited regeneration.

It might come at a cost to tenants of the Corn Exchange, but once there is tangible evidence of redevelopment, the people of Peterborough will get on board and give it their support.
