David and Nicola Hancock have taken on the lease of the property, which occupies a prominent position on North Street in the centre of the village, following the retirement of Carlos and and Sue Rosa, who had been at the helm since 2002.

David Hancock commented: “The Stilton Cheese Inn is a traditional coaching inn, and over the years has built up a fantastic trade drawing customers from far and wide.

“As far as Nicola and I are concerned, there is not a lot to change, we hope to carry out an internal decoration programme giving the interior a new fresh look, we will also (as from the 29th February) be opening 7 days a week and reintroducing popular theme nights for diners.

“We have received a very warm welcome from the villagers and look forward to supporting them and the community.”

The listed building as it stands now was built in roughly 1800. However, pre 1926 the property was called The George, for which records date back to the early 16th Century. It has six en-suite letting bedrooms, 2 bars, a 50 cover restaurant, spacious living quarters, a timber decked seating area as well as a large garden and car park.
