Peterborough teenager arrested after weapon attack in youth gang-related assault

A Peterborough teenager has been arrested and bailed after a youngster was punched in the face with a weapon.

The assault happened in Mountsteven Avenue, Walton, last week (Wednesday, February 3) at 3.30pm.

It came two days after three young people were stabbed in the arm with a screwdriver with police warning about a rise in youth gang-related violence in Peterborough.

Further incidents are said to have taken place on February 4 involving threats and intimidation.

A police spokesman, who said there was no further information on the weapon, said: “Following an incident on Wednesday (February 3) in Mounsteven Avenue, a 19-year-old from Peterborough was arrested on Friday (February 5) for assault and has been bailed until March 7.

“Enquiries are ongoing.

“We continue to work with local partners and communities to ensure we respond quickly to local concerns and safeguarding issues.
