The Westwood Post Office in Hampton Court is situated in Well Pharmacy, but a new provider is now being advertised for.

The news comes a few weeks after it was revealed that Peterborough’s Crown Post Office in Cowgate could be closed with services moved into another retail outlet.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “Westwood Post Office was located in The Co-operative Food until last year.

“The premises were then acquired by Well Pharmacy, and the company has now indicated that it would like to stop operating Westwood Post Office, subject to us finding a suitable replacement retailer to take on the Westwood branch.

“We are committed to maintaining a post office in Westwood.

“The vacancy is currently being advertised on our website.”

There is no timeline for when the post office will be re-located, but it will continue to operate at its current location until a new provider is found.

Once a suitable applicant is chosen, six weeks of public consultation will then commence.

Councillor Ed Murphy, member for Ravensthorpe on Peterborough City Council, said: “I have talked with the staff, post office representatives and the CEO of Cross Keys Homes about securing the post office so that it remains at the centre in Westwood.

“And I am quietly hopefuly that this can be achieved and details agreed in the next few months so that there will be no closure.”
