Maycroft was arrested on October 28, 2013, and charged with two counts of indecent assault on a female; two counts of sexually assaulting a girl under 13; one count of rape (on a woman aged 16 or over); and four counts of sexual assault of a female.

He was found guilty on all counts following a four-week trial in December 2015.

The judge commended all officers involved in the case for their hard work.

Detective Constable Paul Evans said: “Maycroft’s despicable actions have left his victims deeply traumatised and our thoughts are with them and their families. We thank them for their bravery in coming forward and giving evidence at court.

“Maycroft’s offences spanned two decades, making it a complex case, which resulted in a long trial.

“This sentence should act as a warning that we will protect the vulnerable and ensure those who prey on them are brought to justice.”
