Crowds expected to line the streets for funeral of popular Whittlesey firefighter

Well-wishers are expected to line the streets of Whittlesey on Monday to pay their final respects to firefighter and businessman Malcolm Bean.

Malcolm (57), who set up Malcolm James Independent Estate Agents in High Causeway, Whittlesey with sister Lorraine Bingley 20 years ago, died at his home in Owens Gardens last month from a cardiac arrest.

His funeral is at 2pm at St Mary’s Church, Station Road, but people have expressed a wish to line the streets for a procession which is leaving Whittlesey Fire Station, Cemetery Road, at 1.30pm.

Malcolm is then being cremated at Peterborough Crematorium, at Marholm, at 3.30pm.

Malcolm, a keen local footballer, attended Deacons School. He was an apprentice at Baker Perkins and worked in the Starlite Suite at Peterborough United.
