Animal bones and other artefacts found at Bronze Age quarry near Whittlesey

A small, delicate wooden box and pot found in a roundhouse are just the latest discoveries made be archaeologists on the site.

The roundhouses being looked into are 3,000 years old and built on stilts, but were destroyed by a fire and collapsed into a river.

The fish and animal bones uncovered inside are thought by archaeologists to potentially have been the kitchen waste of the time.

A £1.1 million project to excavate the site was funded by government heritage agency Historic England, and quarry-owners Forterra.
