A national strike of junior doctors has been called off at the last minute, but only after 120 patients at Peterborough City Hospital had their appointments cancelled.

An agreement yesterday evening (Monday, November 30) between the British Medical Association and the government has halted three days of planned industrial action, the first of which was due to start at 8am today.

However, the decision to cancel the walk-outs has come too late for some patients at the hospital who are being sent letters with new appointment times for them.

Junior doctors in Peterborough have been meeting the public and explaining why they are so against a new government contract which is being proposed.
