Volunteers needed to be medics

A CALL for volunteers has gone out from medics at the East of England Ambulance Service.

They need people willing to train as first responders to attend emergency calls in the area where they live or work.

The service is particularly looking for volunteers in Ramsey, Warboys and other nearby villages and hopes people will come forward to mark Valentine’s Day on Tuesday next week by making a pledge to save lives in the community.

Cambridgeshire’s community partnership manager Lorna Hayes said: “Valentine’s Day is traditionally about showing affection for a loved one, and we really want people to expand this to include a love of their community.

“First responders play a really important role in life-threatening emergencies such as loss of consciousness and cardiac arrest, and are often the first on scene because they live or work so close to an incident.”
