TRAINEE pharmacists took a day out from training to raise awareness about bowel cancer and raise money for charity.
The group of around ten Boots trainees, from Peterborough and Cambridge, set up a stall outside the firm’s store in Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough, on Sunday.
They handed out leaflets about the condition and collected about £230 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Shelly Thomas, one of the trainees, said they had to organise a health promotion event as part of their five-year course. They are due to qualify in about six months time.
She said: “Our main aim was the health promotion and the fundraising was on the side but it was brilliant to raise that amount. The event was really good.”
