New ward at Thorpe Hall in planning
DETAILED plans are being drawn up in the next stage of an ambitious project to refurbish Thorpe Hall.
Sue Ryder got the go-ahead last year from English Heritage and Peterborough City Council to build a new in-patient centre next to its Grade I listed building.
Philip Ball, palliative care services manager at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall hospice, said: “Now that the planning application has been approved by Peterborough City Council and English Heritage, we have started to look in more detail at designs for the interior of the proposed new building.
“At this stage there isn’t much that we can say as we are still in the planning process. I would like to thank all our staff, volunteers, supporters and the local community for their continuing support.
“This is so important for us. Our aim is to provide the best quality care in the best environment and to further develop our services to support people living with complex care needs.”
It is not yet known when building work will start on the new ward which will go in the walled gardens of the hall.
