A DETERMINED dieter has shed more than six-and-a-half stone after being barred from a rollercoaster ride convinced her to try a new slimming class.
Pascall Horsfall, from Bretton, Peterborough, has dropped from a size 28 to the slender size 10 to 12 in just over a year.
Pascall realised her size was getting out of control when she was turned away from rides by attendants at the Twinlakes Family Theme Park in Leicestershire.
She said: “I have been back to Twinlakes and now I can get on the rides. It wasn’t their fault, I was just too big. I enjoy theme parks very much now.”
The 38-year-old, who is a full-time mum-of-three, began the Weight Watcher’s Pro-Points programme in Whittlesey in September 2010 weighing 18 stone and 4.5lbs.
She set herself a target weight of 11 stone and 10lbs.
She said: “At the beginning I thought this isn’t going to work but when I started losing so much weight week after week I realised ‘I can do this’.
“I haven’t made major change but I like to mix my food up and try new things, like new vegetables and fruit - I absolutely love it.
“I started walking and built my exercise up over time but I’m not a fitness freak or anything.”
Pascall’s friends at the slimming group have called her an “inspiration” since she reached her target weight last week.
She puts her success down to the support of her husband Barry and three children, ten-year-old Mia and eight-year-old twins Kira and Aiden.
Pascall said: “If I can do it then anyone else can.
“Everything has changed. My husband has even been accused of having an affair with a slimmer woman. People I know have literally walked straight past me.”
Liz Stannard, the leader of the Whittlesey Weight Watchers group, congratulated Pascall for achieving her goal weight in such a positive, straightforward way.
She said: “If ever she didn’t lose weight from week-to-week she was so pragmatic and positive about it.
“She never went home to eat her way through her cupboards.”
The group meets at the Ivy Leaf Club in Whittlesey on Thursdays at 10am.
