The number one new year's resolution is unsurprisingly to lose weight. Millions of us jump on the scales at this time of year, gasp in horror and vow to remove all excess weight gained over the Christmas period and some.

The number one new year's resolution is unsurprisingly to lose weight. Millions of us jump on the scales at this time of year, gasp in horror and vow to remove all excess weight gained over the Christmas period and some.I'd like to share with you my best tips for beating the Christmas bulge that don't involve counting calories:

1. Recipes – you need to have some quick and tasty recipes around you so that being healthy is ultra convenient. Visit my website to download your 10 free recipes.

2. Support – ask around to see if one of your friends/work colleagues wants to team up with you, so you can help keep each other focused, but remember to choose wisely.

3. Visualise – be specific about what you want to look like, feel like and weigh. Be sure to keep it realistic.

4. Nourish your weight away – choose home-prepared fresh food over all the low calorie and diet products lining supermarket shelves.

5. Maca – this superfood helps balance your hormones and support thyroid function, which means that it can be useful for weight loss. Visit www.detoxyourworld.com to purchase.

6. Change your mind – sometimes our beliefs get in the way of our ability to lose weight and keep it off. Innertalk CDs are designed to counteract negative emotions we may have around weight loss.

Recipe:

Super choco-maca smoothie

This is like chocolate milkshake, but really healthy. Remember, eating well doesn't mean depriving yourself of delicious food.

Ingredients:

2tsp Cacao Nibs

1tbsp Maca powder

3 Fresh medjool dates

1 cups Fresh nut milk / oat / rice

Method:

Put all ingredients into your blender and blend until you have a smooth milkshake. If your blender is not that powerful, then try using the coffee mill attachment (make sure it can hold liquid first!), or use a hand-held blender.
