Help make adult social care fairer

AGE UK Peterborough is joining a national campaign calling on the Government to overhaul adult social care.

David Bache, chief executive at the charity, is joining the Care in Crisis fight to put pressure on ministers as they draft this spring.

He said the current system fails to provide support, is too complex and under resourced.

He added that there is a post code lottery for elderly people in need of support and it does not treat older people with dignity.

The campaign is now calling on people in Peterborough to sign a petition.

To find out more www.ageuk.org.uk or call 01733 564185.

The petition can be signed online or on paper at Age UK Peterborough in Lincoln Road.

@Bamboozler: glad you clarified that. For a moment I thought you meant "too many old people"...

To many care homes focus on making big profits for their owners, whilst paying staff the minimum wage. As a result there is low morale, high turnover is staff and too many shortcuts on meals, waste disposal etc. Homes get away with providing up to date paperwork and therefore do not need to show practical proof of hands on care to clients.
