Action day to dignify care
CARERS and residents from two Peterborough care homes are taking part in activities to support a national day raising awareness of the importance of dignity in care.
Acacia House and Cardinals House, which are run by Community Care Solutions, are competing in a bowling match with a third team made up of people from the wider community, including a postman and the local GP’s receptionist to celebrate Dignity Action Day.
They will join carers and residents across the group’s supported living schemes and care homes in Cambridgeshire taking part in a host of activities to celebrate the day including making Dignity Trees, holding a cake baking competition, enduring a five mile walk for charity, holding coffee mornings and taking part in a pampering session.
Mark Constant, managing director of Community Care Solutions, said: “Throughout the day service users and staff will be taking part in a range of activities to celebrate fulfilling lives and creating positive outcomes.
“Dignity in Action day aims to remind people about how dignity and respect in care can make a positive difference to people’s lives.
Mr Constant added: “Throughout the day service users and staff will be taking part in a range of activities to celebrate fulfilling lives and creating positive outcomes.”
Community Care Solutions specialises in the provision of residential care for adults with learning disabilities, complex needs and autistic spectrum conditions.
The group has created Dignity Action Day as a national celebration designed to remind society that everyone has a role to play in respecting the dignity of those in the community
