Patient Lesley Kalina has donated more than £3,000 to the oncology ward at Peterborough City Hospital.

She raised the money by staging a number of events, including a pyjama party and cake sales.

Her donation has been used to buy two reclining chairs for the friends or relatives of those receiving treatment.

She said: “The support patients receive from their loved ones is vital to helping them get through their treatment. The chairs allow visitors to feel comfortable and relaxed, helping create a positive atmosphere during a very difficult time.”

Mandy Gray, Ward Manager, said: “We would like to thank Lesley for her support as it is very important that visitors to the ward are made to feel comfortable as they are often sitting for long periods of time while supporting their loved ones.”

Lesley has recently raised an additional £1,600 at a curry night.
