The future for major cinema-led developments in Peterborough will be decided next week.

The planning committee at Peterborough City Council will decide whether to approve or refuse developments at Queensgate shopping centre and North Westgate.

The meeting could bring to a close the £100 million regeneration of North Westgate after the firm behind the development, Hawksworth Securities, claimed that if the Queensgate development is approved then it will scupper its own plans.

Hawksworth has submitted a formal objection to the council regarding the Queensgate revamp.

Councillors will decide on Tuesday whether to approve the Queensgate planning application before then considering the application for North Westgate.

Both applications have been recommended for approval by council planning officers subject to relevant conditions.
