David, who is pictured with Mayor of Peterborough Councillor David Sanders, also regaled the audience at the Salvation Army Citadel with tales from his time covering 45 mayors, royal visits, Peterborough United and a whole host of celebrities.

The evening ended with a question and answer session. All proceeds from the event are going to the mayor’s charities.

David, who described the evening as a privilege, added: “I’m amazed there are still 120 people in the city who have not heard my stories.”
