Distinguished individuals in and around Peterborough are to be recognised for their service in the New Year Honours list.
Peterborough resident Lynda Rowbotham is to receive an MBE for services to people with learning disabilities and their families.
Ms Rowbotham is head of legal at charity Mencap, which supports people with learning disabilities, and spent six years as manager of the city’s Citizens Advice Bureau. She said: “I’m honoured to receive an MBE.
“I would like to thank all those who I have worked with over the years. There is still however a lot more to do until people with learning disabilities are treated the same as everyone else, valued equally, listened to and fully included in society.”
Peterborough resident Dennis Holland, a higher executive officer at the Ministry of Defence, receives an MBE for services to aviation safety.
British Empire Medals have been awarded to Spalding residents and South Holland District Councillors Graham Dark and Michael Booth for services to the community.
Tim Meynell, from Huntingdon, receives the BEM for services to education.
