Christmas carols and a festive quiz all helped raise just over £1,000 for two Peterborough fundraisers.

John and Rosie Sandall from Aspley Way, Longthorpe, will make their 38th trip to Ukraine in the new year where they will continue their long-standing support for severely disabled children following the Chernobyl disaster.

Their Christmas fundraiser last Saturday at the All Saints’ Church Hall, Park Road, included a raffle and tombola.

Close to 80 people enjoyed a buffet and some singing. Once that had finished, everyone began singing Christmas carols.

The singers included Julie Bjerregaard, Mel Ewles, Jacob Spires, Mike King, Josh Jones and John Torr.

Rosie said: “We are very pleased, people are so generous.

“We would like thank people in Peterborough who have continued to support us throughout this year and we look forward to continuing to fundraise next year.”
