THE winner of the first ever Randall Rootz Christmas draw has proved to be a sure-fire winner as the organisation raises funds towards the 2010 festival.First prize - a week long holiday for two to Canada - supplied by 'The Very Special Travel Company' was won by Peterborough man Jonathan Bartrop.
"I've never won anything before in my life," said Mr Bartrop, "So to win a holiday to Canada is a dream come true."
Making dreams come true is the sole aim of the prize sponsor, The Very Special Travel Company, who specialise in providing travel for the over 50s and disabled travellers.
"We are delighted to be supporting the Randall Rootz Festival, who do such an amazing job in promoting local 'roots' music in the city and bringing such big-name acts to the festival," said company managing director Andy Tomblin,
The Randall Rootz Festival was founded in 2007 following the untimely death of the festival's namesake, Mark Randall, from cancer in the February.
The festival aims to bring musical diversity to the city, while offering a fundraising platform for Sue Ryder Care at Thorpe Hall Hospice, where Mark was cared for in his final weeks.
The festival has helped Sue Ryder Care to raise over 12,000 since its inception.
Full details of this year's festival are yet to be announced, but previous years have included acts from the UK and Europe, including performances by Ezio & Booga as well as members of The Pogues and The Beautiful South.
Full details will be announced in due course and at www.facebook.com/randallrootz.
It's set to take place on August 20, 21 and 22.
