PETERBOROUGH Sailability welcomed the mayor of Peterborough to Ferry Meadows see how the venture is helping disabled people experience the freedom of sailing. The mayor watched as youngsters clipped along in the fresh breeze on their trimarans with their "buddy" qualified sailors alongside.

Then she viewed in amazement as a 90-year old followed by a 96-year old sailed out in separate craft with their aides.

Sailability chairman James Hopgood said: "It is a privilege to have the mayor, Cllr Pat Nash, launch the new season.

"We were keen to show her what Peterborough Sailability is all about, how much we have developed, and what we are trying to do to help disabled people in Peterborough enjoy sailing.

"This year, for our fourth season, we have doubled our sailing days during the week so we can welcome more and more disabled people to enjoy the freedom of sailing."
