March 2009: As the Broadway theatre is forced to close, we look back at how boy from Italy built a business empire in Peterborough:
1957: Rinaldo and his family moves from Montefalcione, a little village near Naples, in Italy, to a three-bedroomed terraced house in Silver Street, Peterborough. His father, Nicholas, went to work in the brickyards.
1970: Rinaldo leaves Orton Longueville School without any qualifications and starts a plumbing apprenticeship with Wilcon Homes.
1974: Rinaldo buys two houses; a three bedroomed terrace, in Silver Street, and a three-bedroomed semi-detached house in Whittlesey Road. He renovates both himself and rents them out while still living at home with his parents.
1980: Rinaldo opens his first restaurant – The Pizza House, in Cowgate.
1981: Rinaldo opens a second pizza restaurant in St Mary's Street, Stamford.
1983: Rinaldo buys The Bull and Dolphin pub, in Bridge Street.
1984: Rinaldo opens the first Rinaldo's in Peterborough. The former Bull and Dolphin pub is a restaurant upstairs and a nightclub downstairs.
1986: Rinaldo opens a dial-a-pizza restaurant in Market Street, Whittlesey.
1987: Rinaldo's is sold for 1.2 million under a compulsory purchase order to make way for the Rivergate Centre.
1987: Rinaldo opens a pizza restaurant in Oakham called Rinaldo's Pizzas.
1987: Rinaldo buys 10 St David's Square and lets out 29 factory units on the site to Peterborough businesses.
1988: Rinaldo opens an estate agents in Peterborough.
1988: Rinaldo buys the old county court house in Laxton Square, Peterborough, for 450,00 and transforms it into the second Rinaldo's nightclub.
July 1989: The grand opening of the glittering new nightclub Rinaldo's.
November 1989: Rinaldo sells the club to Mecca for 2.25 million. The club keeps the name Rinaldo's until the next Rinaldo's opens in Peterborough.
May 1990: Rinaldo buys the former Central Library in Broadway and the land next door for 1.6 million. He turns the old library into the third Rinaldo's nightclub and sells off the site next door to Wetherspoons for 500,000 – and the brewery turns it into The College Arms pub.

July 1992: The third nightclub called Rinaldo's opens, in Broadway, Peterborough.
1998: Rinaldo leases out Rinaldo's club building to Break For The Border.
September 1998: Rinaldo buys the former Mumtaz Indian restaurant, in Cowgate, and and spends 300,000 renovating it and turning into Topo Gigio pizza and pasta restaurant.
March 1999: Topo Gigio opens.
February 2002: Rinaldo buys The Sessions House for more than 2 million.
December 2003: Break for the Border closes.
August 2004: Rinaldo buys the Broadway theatre.
January 25, 2009: A fire – believed to be arson – devastates the Broadway theatre.
March 5, 2009: Rinaldo reveals the theatre will not be reopening: see our special report.
