Peterborough's Ferry Meadows has been transformed into a 1930s winter wonderland for a new ITV adaptation of Murder On The Orient Express.

Peterborough's Ferry Meadows has been transformed into a 1930s winter wonderland for a new ITV adaptation of Murder On The Orient Express.A star-studded cast will appear in a two hour Poirot adaptation of Agatha Christie's Murder On The Orient Express which will air in early 2010.

Outdoor shots of a traditional steam engine driving over tracks covered in artificial snow were taken by the crew yesterday.

The cinematic qualities of the Nene Valley Railway have previously been seen in James Bond films Octopussy and GoldenEye.

An ITV spokesperson said: "It is an ideal location because of its steam railway and extensive train network. That makes it a great setting for Murder On The Orient Express.

"We will film there for three days, and then also in London and Malta."

The 1934 novel was made into a film in 1974 starring Sean Connery and Albert Finney.

The 21st century version sees Poirot's travel from Istanbul to Belgrade, where he attempts to solve the murder of American businessman Samuel Ratchett.

David Suchet, who has played Hercule Poirot for 21 years, will be joined by a cast inclusing award-winning actress Dame Eileen Atkins, Toby Jones and Barbara Hershey for the show.

Mathew Prichard, Chairman of Agatha Christie Ltd, said: "It is high time that Agatha Christie fans had another interpretation of my grandmother's Murder On The Orient Express to enjoy.

"I'm delighted that this one has attracted so many well known names and starts with such a wonderful script."

Filming will take place at Ferry Meadows until Saturday.
