Peterborough twin's big day is just pair-fect for duo
SISTERS Sarah and Emma Green were born just 30 seconds after the clock struck midnight on January 1, 1980 – making them the first twins of the decade anywhere in the country.
SISTERS Sarah and Emma Green were born just 30 seconds after the clock struck midnight on January 1, 1980 – making them the first twins of the decade anywhere in the country.Since then, they have led almost parallel lives, going to the same school, living near each other and following similar career paths.
Sarah got married in 2005 to Ben Temple, who she met at Stanground College and started dating when they were both working at Pearl Insurance at Lynch Wood, Peterborough.
And sure enough, when her sister, insurance analyst Emma (29) took her turn to walk down the aisle on Saturday, her story bore a striking resemblance.
Emma also met her new husband Michael Hooks (31) at Stanground College when they were just teenagers, but it was years later when they began courting.
And Sarah predicted on their very first date that her sister would end up marrying him.
In the stunning surroundings of Deeping St Nicholas Parish Church, Emma, wearing a fairytale "princess style" dress and Michael exchanged vows.
Sarah was close at hand as her maid of honour.
Emma, from Barley Grove, Deeping St Nicholas, near Market Deeping, where she moved from Farcet to be closer to her sister, who lives in Deeping St James, said: "Sarah and I are very close. On my first date with Mick, Sarah said I would end up marrying him, but I didn't believe her. She thinks the world of him."
Emma and HGV driver Michael met when she was 14 and he was 15. But love blossomed after they were split miles apart.
She said: "Mick and I were really good friends. I was always trying to find him a nice girl. He moved away to Wansford and when you are younger, it seems a million miles away. When he moved back to Bretton, I realised how we felt about each other.
"He said he had always held a candle for me."
The couple will honeymoon in Las Vegas.
