Inside Justice Week: You be the judge - The ET is asking you to decide the sentences of the defendants in three cases Police are called to an argument outside a Peterborough pub between Mike and a doorman.
On arrival, police see Mike confronting the doorman. Mike's partner, Barbara, is shouting abuse at the doorman.
Mike is taken by a police officer across the road. He's asked to empty his pockets.
By this time, Barbara has crossed the road and takes Mike's items from him. The police officer asks to examine the items. He finds a flick knife hidden inside a lighter.
The officer describes it as "a working flick knife, a vicious little weapon". Both Barbara and Mike are arrested as a result.
During her arrest Barbara admits she has a knife in her bag. It turns out to be a knife with a five-inch blade.
Barbara is charged with possession of a bladed article. She pleads not guilty in court.
She says she used the knife to change a car tyre on the day she was arrested and forgot she had it with her when she went to the pub.
Her version of events is rejected by magistrates.
She is found guilty of having a bladed article without lawful authority or excuse.
Mike is charged with possessing an offensive weapon without lawful authority and excuse.
He pleads guilty at the earliest opportunity.
